Marco Seliger

Marco Seliger has been editor for security and defence at the NZZ in Berlin since January 2023. He began his journalistic career after graduating from high school in 1991 with an internship at the Magdeburger Volksstimme, where he also completed his first editorial assignments. In 1994/95 he completed his military service in the German Air Force and was trained as a reserve officer. Between 1999 and 2002 he served three tours of duty with the Bundeswehr in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Afghanistan. He then joined the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung Group, where he worked for 17 years, including as editor-in-chief of the magazine loyal - Magazin für Sicherheitspolitik and as a defence policy writer for various FAZ products. He then spent two and a half years as a company spokesman for Heckler & Koch in Oberndorf am Neckar. Marco Seliger has written three books, including 'The Afghanistan Disaster' (2022).
